[90 Days with Life Souvenirs] What Do You Need?
Day 2 Foundations: The Less / More Method
Greetings Fellow Life Travelers!
So, yesterday was day 1. Hopefully you grabbed your copy of the workbook! (Remember there is a coupon code so you can get it for free in the Life Souvenirs chat on the Substack app!) Just a reminder to the Life Souvenirs list, after the first 3 days of this in your inbox, you won’t receive them daily unless you go to your Substack profile and toggle this to the “on” switch under Life Souvenirs sections: 90 Days with Life Souvenirs. This Video will show you screen recording I did of my test account to set it up in Chrome.
Did you come up with some daily actions steps that would move you forward in your life? I’d love to hear about them!
For I’m trained in the secret of overcoming all things, whether in fullness or hunger. And I find that the strength of Chris’s explosive power infuses me to conquer every difficulty. . . I now have all I need - more than enough - I’m abundantly satisfied! Phi 4: 13, 18
For these first three days, I’m a little out of order - but these are foundational pieces that will help you develop your systems during the days to come. I will come back to these later with more detail and context. For right now, I just hope to get you started.
Today I’d like to present the Need Less/More Method.
I have two systems when it comes to determine what you want in your life and how to get it. The first is the deep dive, more complex Life Atlas system. Later in this journey I will take you through an abbreviated version of Life Atlas. But for now, I will just describe it as an extremely in depth, detailed journey into identifying the big dream for your live and breaking it down into pillar visions, goals, creating habits and action steps that move you closer to your dream life.
The second, is the way more simple Need Less / More Method. This can be used in a variety of ways. I have an overall list that is ever evolving in a notebook on my Remarkable tablet. When I reflect at the end of the day, the things I am grateful for - often end up in my need more of list. The challenges of the day often end up in some form on my need less of list. See? Easy. If you used it only in that way, it can change your life if you keep in front of you what you want more of / less of.
But you can also use it as you focus on certain categories for your life:
I need Less/More of these things when it comes to my overall health & nutrition. (less junk food, sitting on my butt, carbs, insomnia, soda, binging, etc… need more water, protein, movement, steps, walks, healthy snacks, etc.)
You can use it with your work. (I need less time gossiping with co-workers, stress, unproductive meetings, wasted time, clock watching… more focus, connecting with co-workers strategically, maybe over lunch or happy hour, efficiency, strategy, systems, space, etc)
When I organize or tackle a project - I take an initial approach of what do I need less of / more of to accomplish my goals here.
I use this with my kids. I need less of this from you. I need more of this from you. It’s an awesome communication tool for our family to voice what they need!
When I work with a storytelling client, we start with this. What do you need more of in your family storytelling system? Need better stories? Need more organization of memorabilia? Need more ideas? Clarity? Guidance? Technology?
Hopefully, you get the idea. What other ways can you utilize this tool?
Like the exercise we talked about yesterday, you can do this in whatever way works best for you.

Use the template from the workbook, wait what?
I created a Need Less/More Method worksheet and added it to the workbook today. So be sure and grab that - I just update the workbook and replace the file. So no matter when you come in, you get the most updated version of the workbook. You only have to purchase it once (it’s free if you use the coupon from the Life Souvenirs chat on the Substack app.)

My Personal Story - A Wallflower’s Call to… (Gulp) Stage?
When I was in the 5th/6th grade, I was invited to join some women going to nearby town to a large Christian women’s conference for women in the Texas Panhandle. This was for the legalist, “frozen chosen” denomination I grew up in that was concrete black and white - no speaking in tongues or really anything of the supernatural persuasion other than an elusive God in the sky type context. (This is important in a minute.) They had a special section for teenagers. So me and one other girl went. I think this surprised everyone because I was so shy; like, wallflower shy. If anyone looked at me wrong, I would start crying. Social anxiety through the roof. In spite of going to the bathroom twice beforehand, I pee’d my pants during a choir concert when it came time for my solo. I swear that music teacher was out to humiliate me. In her eyes, I think she was trying to help me come out of my nice, cozy shell.
It’s also the day I learned what “box lunches” were and I left the building and walked to a nearby convenience store to get a coke and a candy bar because I was starving. After a day of age appropriate sessions, we all came together in the auditorium to hear the main speaker.
When she started speaking, I was immediately bored and started doodling on some paper I brought with me. Then, I heard a voice:
“Melanie. You need to pay attention. You are going to be doing this one day. You are going to be speaking from a stage one day. I have plans for you.”
I laughed out loud at the absurdity of what this voice said to me. He must have been speaking to someone else. I looked up to see people around me glaring at me because I apparently laughed out loud at the most inappropriate time - I think she was talking about someone had died. My friend next to me looked me with a confused look. I think she got into trouble - people thought I’d laughed at something she had said.
I whispered, “Did you hear that voice?”
My friend shook her head as she looked at me as if I’d lost my mind. I’ll admit, I was beginning to think the same thing at this point.
I went back to my doodling. And once again, a voice whispered to my soul: “I have plans for you. Pay attention.”
Something came over me and the verse came to me from John 10, my sheep will know my voice. Chills came over me along with a blanket of peace. I knew what I had experienced was real. Yet, I had nothing in my religious context to explain it. We don’t have supernatural experiences. Those are of the Devil… witchcraft!
I decided it best be kept to myself. Then I snickered under my very quiet breath I muttered, “Yeah, Lord, whatever you say!” And I thought, “God has a wicked sense of humor! I will give Him that!”
“I’m listening, Lord. What do you want me to do?” 1 Samuel 3:9 CEV
Out of respect for your time, I will continue this story tomorrow in part 2.
So, what do you think so far? Day 2 of 90… If you haven’t grabbed my workbook yet, you should. My workbooks are cool! (I might be biased - but I think they are!) As I go, I am adding a link on workbook pages of the corresponding 90 Days post. So, it makes it much easier.
Would you please share this on your social media platforms? Invite others to this 90 day journey? You may be late to the party and that’s okay. This 90 Day section will stay right here. So, share away if you got value from it.
