Issue No 9
Greetings family storytellers and path finders!
For March, all of the newsletters will be public as I hope to continue to gain subscribers and gain some traction. It would mean so much if you would share this across your social media! I appreciate all of you who have done this previous. I have some great family storytelling tips this week!
In a facebook group I am in, a woman asked the best way to gather photo memories and I responded since this is my arena and that was a week ago and I still get notifications of people who like the comment - it’s been popular. So, I wanted to share it with you here this week.
One thing I recommend my clients do instead of scanning in printed photos is pull up a table close to a window - so you get natural light. Turn off any lights. Then, use your phone camera - turn off the flash - and take photos of the photos. Printed photos have a film on them that reflect light so scanners often leave your photos with flares and over exposed. Upload and share then via your storage of choice - iCloud, google drive, drop box. I love utilizing Google Drive or the Telegram app for a family chat/exchange.
Hint: Don’t feel like you have to save every photo. Save photos that reflect on or represent a particular era or story from this persons life.
Use your chosen photos to create a life book that celebrates your loved one. My favorite resource is Blurb lay flat … and include photos as well as the stories behind them … create the book and share it with family members who can all order their own. You end up with a really nice keepsake that honors your moms life that loved ones will actually pick up and look at. Be sure to include stories - not just photos.
Also, invest in ancestry dna for a few months. Add the photos and stories that go with them there - future genealogists will consider you a hero! Pictures of nameless faces (in a few generations down the line) mean almost nothing to most people. Be sure to capture the stories as well. Not just the data!
You are the best person to tell and honor your family stories. You’ve got the

I’m reading The Myth of Normal by Gabor Mate, Atlas of the Heart by Brene Brown, and Write for Life by Julia Cameron.
Articles I’ve Enjoyed this week include:
