#exposemyself Challenge Day 0
I am finally launching this blog. Thank you for hanging in here as I work out the kinks & get into the rhythm of things. I’m beginning this with a series of Exposing Myself - it's the #exposeyourself challenge - but I explain here in a bit why I changed it.
I'm going to do something that’s kinda scary & challenging. If you choose, YOU will get to witness it 🙂
3 things I value & desire more of:
Grounded confidence in & expression of who I am & willing to embrace others for who & where they are on their own journey.
Consistency in showing up & creating sacred spaces for my people.
They may seem simple, yet not always easy to do; especially as an introvert suffering from extreme burn out & very protective of her energy bank. I’ve also noticed how I tend to hide or keep silent; even on topics that I have strong opinions -or even affections - I’d like to express.
In the spirit of being honest w/ myself & others, going on those deep dives & creating deeper connections w/ my people (this probably means you) while repelling those who aren't my people (hopefully, not you - but ), I decided to take this “expose your truth” challenge. Except I really despise the “your truth / my truth” expression. Truth is truth. Just because you or I have our own perspectives of truth, it doesn’t make it any more or any less true according to our own experiences or perspectives. So, I will instead call it “expose myself” challenge. But I promise, that doesn’t involve showing any skin (you can breathe a sigh of relief now) - just what’s underneath it.
Over the next 30 days I’m going to expose 30 things (experiences, beliefs, thoughts, etc) about myself that many of you may not know, even though I have been pretty open about some tough things in my own history before now.
30 stories / life lessons from the 50+ years I’ve been around the sun & the wisdom I’ve accumulated (some of which I gained the hard way).
I do believe in leading w/ truth (even when it’s hard), being fully self-expressed & being seen are the most liberating & courageous ways to live. I don’t know about you, but I could use a little courage now.
I do NOT intend this as a public diary of random vomit & useless crap that carries ZERO value. My hope is to leave you w/ lessons you can apply to your own life - or maybe just offer some things that resonate with you or reinforce a connection we’ve made.
Just maybe, I might inspire you to find courage & wisdom in yourself to do the very thing you might feel scared to do or say. If you’re tempted to judge, that’s ok (also, you’re probably *not* my people). It won’t deter me from my own commitment to show up for this challenge.
If you’re a fan of bravery of self-expression & showing up authentically, & will be following this journey, please drop an emoji! (If not, drop it anyway so more people can see this post and decide for themselves! ha!)
If you made it this far reading, thank you so much! See you tomorrow!
Holy frogs circling the skimmer in the swimming pool! I now have to write posts for 30 days straight.
